Another motor question

I have a Nutone Basic exhaust fan. I would like to control the speed. What type of motor is this and are speed controls available.

... in which case you can use simple voltage control, i.e. a dimmer (if it is the right kind). But be careful, doing it that way can lead to premature motor death. You are not really controlling the speed directly, you are lowering the effective voltage, which reduces the torque and the lower torque RESULTS in a lower speed. But if you set the dimmer too low, the torque drops to where the motor stalls and if you leave the dimmer in that position, the motor fries.
