I need to connect a fire alarm system to an ansul hood system in a restaurant. I have the idea that a person could add a control module to the data line. Is this correct and if so, where would the connection to the ansul system go?

There is a Cherry switch in the upper right hand corner of the ANSUL cabinet for this purpose, among others.

It's been a loooong time for me, but, I'll try. If there's a separate zone to the ansul system, treat it like a pull station. There are a couple of contacts at the ansul system. Tie to the normally open contacts & use an end line resistor. I hope this helps.

Shunk,
I talked with another person in our field and they mentioned the exact location where you said the "cherry" is.
Carrol,
The gentleman also, stated about putting an EOL there-which makes sense.

Here is my understanding: We are monitoring this hood, the same way that one would a flow/tamper. We are working with a "Silent Knight" system-which is non addressable/dumb. We are going to cable the ansul hood directly to an unused zone on the panel. Very silly question, but would I still use the EOL resistor? This I do understand for a data circ. on an addressable system.

Carrol,
I do not know if recieved my post reply about 5 minutes ago, but we are using a Silent knight panel (non addressable/dumb) and it will be directly connected to a separate zone on the panel. This sounds correct (what you stated) after talking with an associate in my industry. ??? connect to the separate zone on the panel and to the contacts on the ansul system with an EOL there? Correct?

You need to check w/ your local fire dept. in our area in so. mass. its required that the intake fan is dumped on alarm, but the exhaust fan continues to run, to do this you need to add a relay.
