In my experience answering services are not all they are cracked up to be. We use pagers cell and answering machine.
I call my friends answering service and numerous times it rings and rings, when they answer the person at the other end barely speaks English.
Never had any issues with the answering machine pager cell.

In my opinion, there's nothing better to a caller than the boss answering the phone. It's too easy for an uninterested someone else to let a call go and not turn it into a sale. Nobody can ask and answer questions as well as I can.
My business number permanently call-forwards to my cell phone; there is no physical phone at that number. When in my home-office, I forward my cell-phone calls to a distinctive-ring phone number, so I can tell the difference between personal and business calls.

Larry I did this in the early days and at night I still do this BUT when I am sleeping it goes to an answering machine.

With too many answering service company on the market, you really need to do some research to find the one with QUALITY. Take a look at all the potential providers, see what clients they are currently serving, how many years they have been in the business, etc.
