What part of that section prohibits wall sconces?

Non listed "for damp areas" type fixtures. The fixtures in the picture don't appear to damp area rated, but apparently they are from reading the previous posts.

I agree its legal because it falls just outside of the tub space.Personally i see someone slipping and trying to grab something to keep from falling.

What bothers me the most is how we have rules in 680 for protection of hot tubs but very few for a similar tub in the bathroom.

I see a hazard here but nothing i can do as i didnt install it.

I dare you to mail this picture to your insurance company. EDIT to say I TRIPLE DOG DARE YOU!! Going right for the jugular. Go ahead turn down a tripple dog dare you will be in therapy for at least 15 years.

So, in a serious breach of dog-dare etiquette, you skipped right over the double dog-dare, and went right for the throat?

Jim it does not fall outside the tub space. The tub space is 3' around yet it is still compliant.

Ok do you have that number handy or better yet post it here. The way i been taught is it is 8 feet from water edge up and 3 feet in front. If your right then they need removed.

It's legal because wall sconces are not prohibited from being in tub and shower spaces.

As long as their rated for damp areas if non showerd and wet areas if it has a shower.

That is quite an assumption. How many times have you seen that happen ? I would think by the time you reach for the "lighted handles" you would already be on your backside. I have had customers that wanted the same type of set up and I have no problem with it. If it is code compliant, you have no liability.

Guess a receptacle be fine in that tub area too.w/p cover of course

would you consider it code compliant ?

Even though it's been beaten to death this statement is not entirely true. A shower does not automatically require a wet location fixture. That's only required if the fixture is subject to shower spray.
