We have been losing engines in our fleet,f 150/e150 4.2 liter engines. The intake manifold gaskets fail and the engine hydrolocks.Ford denies there is a defect but the new gaskets sold by ford are different from OEM gaskets.Has anyone else hhad this happen.

Maybe you should try posting this question on the "Fix Or Repair Daily" forum. :D

I saw something posted on a ford site about your problem. You could try going to the ford site. I believe they have a listing of TSB's by vin and year.

We dumped all our Fords, went to Dodges, and are now shopping for Chevy/GMCs.
Fords have expensive brakes to fix.
Dodge computers are always going on the blink, and so are the fuel pumps.
Chevy/GMCs don't have half the problems other than the nuts behind the (steering) wheel.

Re: anyone else having engine problems with ford vans/pick

I will have to rib my plumber friend about this thread. I have always bought GMCs and he is a Ford guy.

I used to work for a company that bought Chevy vans when I had a GMC pick up at the time. At break one day someone asked "Hey wants the difference between a Chevy and a GMC anyway"?

One of the other guys I was working with said "The bolts are tighter on a GMC".

I was looking at vans at a Chevy dealership a couple years ago to see what the new vans looked like. A salesman came over and asked if he could help me. I said "Do you sell GMCs"? He said no but Chevy is the same thing. I bit my lip and said "No sir, the bolts are tighter on a GMC".

I walked away hiding a big smile as he absorbed what I had told him.

Anyway, wish I had something to offer but a silly story. Good luck with your vans.

Well at least we now have a smile.the Dealership told us that they would replace the intake gaskets on 1/2 our fleet if our mechanic did the other 1/2 they would supply the parts.MMMM sounds like a watergate to me.
