Appliances in the nec are both in 220 and 422. Are they calculated slightly different because in 220 these items (range dryer cooktop) are fixed in place?

Circuit sizing and OCPD sizing are not load calculations, they are installation requirements. Installation requirements and load calculations are two different things.
