If you are in a one horse town, you may have to deal with this guy for along time.
To me, that's a reason to stop tyranny in its tracks early, not to let it continue. Complacency can become a habit.

I agree with you Jim. Just wanted to point out that the inspector needs a little help. ;)

He needs more than a little help.He needs to buy a code book and learn how to read.Better yet find a job that he has the ability to perform.

Crimp Barrels ... YUK ...

I think it's pretty much a consensus here. Crimp barrels are preferred and reds are okay.

Where did you come up with this "Consensus" stuff ?? I personally never use them and never will ... what happens if you have to add a wire or trouble shoot a circuit ... just cut them rite ... I hope you leave a lot of wire in that box when you do ... m

Same here, I never liked them I use regular wire nuts.

Definitely a personal preference issue.

Well, I read all the previous post to mine and those who posted about crimp barrels were mostly positive for them ~ which would be a general consensus. If I include you and IWIRE, there still would be the same consensus.

If I am working in a 4 square box with thhn or m/c, I use reds. If I am working with #12 NM and a single gang box, I use crimps. Especially if in a 22 cu in box with 3 cables and a device. :)

Oh yeah, the crimps cut right off with the points on the diagonal pliers durring troubleshooting and adding a wire. Then, slip another back on, crimp, and you are done.
