I haven't the slightest idea.... :D

Are you having a problem with the AFCIs tripping, or is an upcoming installation?

Can you be more specific about the type of fixture you are dimming? And the type of dimmer?

A rheostat shouldn't cause any problems, but IMO a dimmer with a SCR or TRIAC could very easily be mistaken for an arc fault.
