How do you hook-up a arc-fault on a split-circuit or don't you. I have a older home that we are doing a service up-grade on. Its has 10 circuits that are split circuits, the bedrooms are on these circuits. Do I even have to put the bedrooms on arc-faults if the home is older.

To use a mutiwire branch circuit it must be a circuit breaker that is designed for that purpose with an AFCI. Otherwise the common grounded conductor will cause the AFCI to trip on unbalanced current. CH is the only mfg to make one that I know of.
