lets see if im understanding article 630.12

it says the arc welder could have overcurrent protection device at no more than 200 percent.

so is it legal to use a 60 amp fuse to protect a 30 amp arc welder? there was supposed to be 2 arc welders on those fuses but one welder had a bad cord and im waiting on it being replaced before hooking it up.
 
If these arc welders are cord and plug connected, you can't really take advantage of that section. When you wire a receptacle, it may or may not get a welder plugged into it. You havn't wired for a welder in that case, you've wired a receptacle. If the welders are the hardwire type and you have a 630.13 type disconnecting means (not cord and plug), then and only then have you wired up an arc welder to be able to take advantage of the 630.12 permissions.

i hardwired them. they were on 480volt 3 phase hubble twist locks and they didnt want them anymore
