Arctic Temps in The Midwest

But I too think about our friends from the northeast, hopefully the way they think about us when we are on a roof in july.

I don't know where you're from, but rooftops in Texas in July are similar to Dante's 7th level of hell. Especially those dang white rubber/urethane-like roofs that reflect the suns rays.

I think Karl H will probably have an answer to that when he chimes in later.

karl is busy, and asked me to let you all know that in orange, california today
that it was 85 degrees.......

in chicago at the same time, it was 8 degrees.

i had to go home and put flip flops on, and put the AC on in my truck.
carl probably had to do the same thing, unless he left the house properly
attired in flip flops.... i started work at 5:15 am in newport, and it was a
bit chilly for flip flops at that time, i must confess. i wore socks and
everything........ but by 9 am, it was flip flop time.......

it's ok.... i paid dues to get here.... i hooked up AC units on the white
vinyl roof of the sniders of hanover pretzel factory in goodyear, az
in august. it was 126 at the time.... no, that wasn't a typo, but it sure
was a mistake. :D

Every year or two in October I take my family for a few weeks over to Los Angeles and San Diego. Mostly we find the weather quite chilly. Maybe you S. California guys can fool Michigan electricians about how warm it is there, but not me. It really is 85 here every day, not some days.

I've been there Brother! Houston TX.

And you've got the 90% daily summertime humidty down there too! That shoots the heat index through the roof. Stay cool this next summer, though. They say it's going to be a scorcher. I'd like find that ideal place with ideal temps and plenty of work...

October is cold here at night.Nights here in October are our first cool nights .

It gets down to 68 at times. I surf 4 days a week until the time changes .

Then I only surf on the weekends.October November is when we get

our first Northwest swells. The water goes from 70 to 59 overnight.

One of my surf buddies is from Michigan, and even he says it's cold.

He's been here 10 years though.:D It is chilly to those that come from warmer

states.I came here from Texas (100+ )It took two years befor I took

my coat off in the summer at night.A East Coaster saying it's chilly here

now that's funny.:D

Try UK.......
My wife is from GA (north of Atlanta).
Hot hot (hotlanta) in the summer, freeze your gonads off in the winter ice storms.
Here it is much more moderate. And half the rainfall.
Work, I suppose, is much like anywhere else in the current economic climate.

I can't even comprehend -30. Sometimes I have to go into the freezers at a local turkey processing plant, and its -20. Being in there even briefly is numbing. I don't see how ya'll do it for several months out of the year. You guys have my utmost respect.

Actually, the minus temperatures in the daytime only happen for a few days a year. Most of the time it will get into the low +20's during January and Feb. Dress correctly and you can deal with it. Just give PVC, including insulation, a chance to warm up before you use it in the morning.

We rarely see 90+? (I think once or may twice last summer). Can't remember how many decades since we saw 100?.
