are feed through lug kits considered taps

hi every one I'm an apprentice and had an install where we had a feed through lug kit (ftlk) energize a tesla back up gate way and had no ocpd except the main breaker and i don't think that's correct i was always told never go lug to lug and read 240. 21 and looked into buss way taps and taps in general and saw that its okay for the tap not to have ocpd but once it reaches it device it's supplying it should land on a breaker of some sort unless there's a fused disco in between and also i may be completely wrong because i don't even know what a (ftlk) is even classified as i will appreciate any guidance on this because I'm verry con fused

It is not a tap if the OCPD ahead of the feed-thru lugs is not larger than the conductors you install in the feed-thru lugs.

so if i have a 200 amp breaker and 3/0 awg conductors coming out of the lug kit to the switch gear it isnt a tap, but im still confused on what the (ftlk) is and in that scenario the main breaker is okay to be the ocpd for that switch gear

and to make sure i understand when you say the ocpd ahead of the (ftlk) is not larger the the conductors we are talking about ampicity wright

It's basically a continuation of the buses in the panel.

Yes if you had a 200 amp main with lugs attached to the bottom of the bus you can run 200 amp conductors without an additional OCPD because they are already protected by the main.

Actually, I found it on the net and posted it first, but your copy is clearer, so I replaced it with yours.
