Are Tandem CB's "Outlawed"?

If they did outlaw those GE half space breakers I would never miss them, I have had such a high failure rate with them, from the 20 amp up, about the only nice feature of these panels is when you loose the connection point for the half space breaker, for every other breaker space there is a full 1" BR style stab buss which any BR type breaker will fit right in, and CH has a certified tandem for replacing these half space breakers with a full space tandem, this will give you the same amount of circuits, but with allot less of the problems with the stabs burning up , but then again I don't use GE, not a common panel for this area.

I wasn't aware that the Cutler Hammer BR was "certified" for use in GE panels. Is this true? I know that the standard 1" breakers made by Siemens, GE, SQD Homeline, Cutler-Hammer BR, etc. will interchange, but it's the certification that I wonder about.:-?

A Cutler Hammer rep stopped by the HD I work recently and handed me a sign that shows the compatibility of Cutler Hammer breakers and other manufacturers. I believe it's the "Classified" cert that allows a BR to be installed in a wide variety of panels. I inquired about this as I have never heard of it. The rep said something like it's just like a regular BR but it's stamped "Classified" and it costs a few dollars more than a standard BR. Apparently Cutler Hammer also makes a breaker that will fit in a QO panel.

On a side note, would you fail an installation if someone used a non CTL twin in a CTL panel but installed it where a CTL twin would go on the buss?
