My supplier is stocking this now. Anyone using them? Is there a noticeable difference in labor costs?

I saw a small 250' multi-conductor setup at Home Depot awhile back, but my supplier has 2000' single conductor packs. Seems like it could really shave some hours on swapping reels. I asked them to check on multi-conductor packs; I would guess to keep the weight down it needs to stay in the 500' range, but I imagine you could stack a few of those on the floor and go to work.

Inevitable you end up with a lot of reels with a few feet of wire left also. I don't imagine a huge cost savings for us on eliminating waste, but on the average job for us it may save 1000' of wire when you add all those 20-30' pieces up.

... I can't see them as a money saver , and what do you do if you want to pull 2 ckts and want to leave only one of the ckts and gnd looped out of JB for splice?

The wire cart is very cool but unless it collapses down quickly for easy storage, it's useless. That and Ive never been on a commercial site where you'd be able to roll it around. Those coil pacs are also neat but wow they take up some space. Would be great for v/d/v tho; they are a massive improvement over reel-in-box, and look much sturdier than rabbit-pull boxes.

Probably worth it for a primarily commercial electrician that works on better (cleaner) projects. The feeder/roller system could be used on smaller spools as well.
 
Ive used them, I was pulling into 3/4 pipe underground, individual conductors, they pull easy but they corkscrew into pipe. My guess is wires are a tangled mess in pipe which won't matter if you never have to pull them out but... I liked the concept but my supply house stopped stocking them and I think I was the only one who used them.
 
Seems like a great idea for any large scale job. For the rest of us, not so much. Four or five plastic spools of #12 fit nicely on a small wire rack. :cool:
 
...all of the larger projects that I'm on, we order 2500' spools and set them up once on a greenlee wire tree, which is on wheels and portable. Just can't see anything being more efficient than that.
BTW , anyone know the cost comparison?
