Would the installation of a natural gas powered electrical generator cause the surrounded area to be a Class 1 Area? The source of the gas is a pipe from a gas processing plant.

Not necessarily. The presence of a fuel line alone would not require the location to be classified. Other equipment such as valves and/or flanges in the line may warrant classification; but again, not necessarily. Several factors such as pressure and flow rates would need to be considered.

A feed gas compressor to raise the fuel gas pressure probably would require classification.

The entire process should be evaluated by someone qualified to review it before any definitive answers could be given.
