I?d like to get a ?sense of the forum.? We usually argue that, in absence of a specific prohibition, something that ?works? is acceptable; i.e., ?The box shall be painted? would permit any color. On the other hand, we tend to argue that if the NEC has a specific ?positive? requirement, it automatically prohibits any alternatives; ?The box shall be painted red,? shuts out all other colors. (Let?s not argue about shade, hue intensity, etc.
)
I believe as more States adopt the 2008 NEC, my company will often be subjected to Article 708.
For the time being, I am focusing on Section 708.10(C)(1). It is my contention, the current wording would prohibit overhear pole lines for those parts of our facilities identified as COPS.
I?m not too interested in anyone?s opinion about the requirement itself, simply whether you agree or disagree that there is exclusivity.
