Separation from Low Voltage Equipment. 110.34B states that there needs to be separation between the low voltage (under 600 v) and any exposed live parts or exposed wiring in vault or room.

Does this pertain to a metal clad switchgear line up?
 
I don't completely understand what you are asking. 110.34B is in Part III-Over 600 Volts. So you have a high voltage switchgear, right? Normally, the only exposed live parts or wiring would be inside the switchgear, and it would be designed so the enclosure provides the required separation from any other low voltage wiring in the same room.

Or are you wanting to install low voltage wiring inside the switchgear??

I was trying to confirm that Metalclad switchgear (5kV class) does not need to be seperated from the 480v MCC line up that will also be in the room.
 
I haven't really done any work with HV switchgear, but I would think any new switchgear would have a NEMA 1 enclosure which means there wouldn't be any "exposed live parts or wiring".

So I think the 480V MCC is fine in the same room. Can someone else confirm that?

Done all the time. It's enclosed and all that good stuff.


Just provide and maintain the appropriate NEC clearances around the equipment and you're good to go.

And clearances can be shared.
