the quetion is on aduplex apartments on the fire wall , you have a electrical box back to back on opposite of 2/4 does this meets code ? because its not in the same chase , or does it still need the 24 inch rule . Also can a fireproof electrical box be used and be in compliance.

If the boxes are separated by framing that qualifys as solid fireblocking you don't need to be 24" apart.

Also if you are using a non-metallic box with a fire rating check out the installation instructions. Some boxes are listed to be installed with reduced distances.
