I am having a disagreement with our local inspector regarding the installation of kitchen exhaust fans in single family dwellings. It appears to me that the wording of the article states that a cord and plug connection method is optional and not mandatory, hard wiring would still be acceptable to the National Electrical Code. I understand that the local authority has the final say but I would like to know if others agree with my interpretation.

But being right, and having to comply with the AHJ are not always mutually inclusive!
