Topic: Floating metal dock in lake, with lights and boat lift wired to house panel on shore.
Question: Article 553 states the metal dock must be grounded to the utility service ground. If this creates an neutral-earth voltage issue, could a metal dock be treated as a marina/boatyard device, where an on soure marina receptacle is used to power the lights and boat lift. When the lights and boat lift are not needed, the receptacle could be unplugged, thus disconnecting the floating dock from the utility service ground?
