Panel 10 has accepted a proposal to delete ARTICLE 780 Closed-Loop and Programmed Power Distribution, does anyone know of anyone that is using this article? :confused:

Hi Charlie:

If I understand the scope of this article, it would apply to some home energy management systems that use a signal over power lines.

Is that your interpretation as well ? Some of these systems are still in use as far as I know.

The manufacturer, Smarthomes LLC, went bankrupt. I read in the handbook that the article was left in the NEC as there are still homes wired with it.
It would be a first to have an article deleted, the NEC would get somewhat smaller!

I forgot to add Art 780 is where NM-S cable is used. We often don't see the NM-C and NM-s in Art 334.
I've never seen NM-C but its similar to UF.
