Is Article 90 an enforceable part of the Code? Or is it just, and it's title says, an "Introduction"?
iwire said:And I am asking how would it be done?
How could I be red tagged for 90.1(B)?
How can I violate the Adequacy of the NEC?
90.3 ... What can I do on the job to violate the code arraignment?
iwire said:I see 90.9(A)&(B) as strictly informational only.
I see 90.9(C) as an allowance, not a directive. I can use soft conversion but I do not have to.

Thats all well and good.wbalsam1 said:90.3 states "This code is divided into the introduction and nine chapters....."
This means that the Introduction is part of the code. 90.4 sets out mandatory applicabilty when adopted by a governmental entity. Because it is a part of the code, it is enforceable....it's just that the provisions are considerably different and not as readily, understandably enforceable.

Has anyone here ever seen a red tag with 90... on it?

Is Article 90 an enforceable part of the NEC
iwire said:The pole does not ask if Article 90 is part of the code, IMO it is.
The pole asks..
Is Article 90 an enforceable part of the NEC
IMO the answer to that is no, it is not enforceable or citable or red tagable.![]()
It sure would...without 90.3 you don't know that Chapter 8 is stand alone, that is the other chapters don't apply and you would not know that Chapters 5, 6 and 7 modify Chapters 1 through 4. You also would not know what types of installations are coved by the NEC and what are not. The code would be almost unusable without Article 90.480sparky said:Let me try this.
Let's say some magic Genie pops out of a bottle and snaps his fingers..... Article 90 no longer exists. Would this have an impact on enforcing the rest of the Codebook?
