A three phase motor is installed to drive a single conveyor belt forward and backwards on a car assembly line. The circuit specifications are as follows:
Supply line voltage = 400V
Frequency = 50Hz
Power rating of motor = 8kW
Power factor = 0.8
Length of cables = 100m
Hint: quote all cables used.
Questions:

  1. Choose a suitable cable and give reasons
  2. Select a suitable method of installing the cable and give reasons
  3. Make a labelled sketch of the control circuit of the diagram and the power diagram.
  4. Name the type of conduit used to connect the motor to its control panel and give reasons
  5. Calculate the minimum cable size for the installation
  6. Calculate the actual voltage drop of the installation
  7. Calculate the percent voltage drop

400V and 50Hz suggests that you are in a European country or perhaps an ex UK colonial country.
This forum deals with NEC code which is specific to North America. You may not get answers that are applicable to your location.
