Does the NEC require separate transfer switches for emergency lighting versus other non-emergency related loads? If not, is it good practice to design it that way?

Thanks!

700.9(B) requires that all emergency circuits be entirely separate from all other types of circuits other than a few locations such as light fixtures and exit signs.

A common thing to do in this area is to order the generator equipped with two output breakers and sized large enough for emergency and optional standby loads. From those breakers we go to separate ATS switches.
