Attic wiring

The code does recognize this - 334.30. Just because in some areas people do not do it, and inspectors do not look for it, does not mean it is not code.

I made an attic inspection the other day in a large home. It must have been 200 degrees in that attic (it least it felt that way). I like attic inspections, because it shows me how a contractor is really working... some tend to hide "stuff" in the attic thinking an inspector is not going up there... always a good way to see the ECs style.

I was in a crawl space the same day, another good space to check the ECs style of work. ;)

Both passed.

Were there wires attached to the underside of the joists?
 
Actually your creating a hazard with staples on wires laying flat on trusses.After insulation they can not be seen and will be walked on.Rather the romex was free to move than get ripped on that staple.24 years behind me with no staples other than already mentioned to keep them out of V or steel plates.But where they are up high they do need them.
