When running your branch from switch (at 48") to outlet box in ceiling what is your average distance once you reach the ceiling to the j-box usually? I say 10'.I know it varies but the average? Thanks.

It depends on the situation & layout. The most common way would be to hit the first fixture straight from the switch. Then carry on to the others. Or you might stop at a 4"sq & then have multiple switch legs to fixtures. 10 to 12 feet.

Article 410.64 and 410.65.

I mention these but in the field I've never seen nor dug enough to note what makes these two
articles permissable on a piece of equipment. I'll assume it's in the cut sheets but these don't always hit the floor!

PO, it's nice to have all the power to a box located close to switch and the first set of light(s),
at least then you don't have to tear a light apart to check something, or drag out a wad of wires out of the top
of a light fixture.

I don't understand why your going so far, being ten foot off the wall is not unrealistic to the first
light but i know of no requirement of a limit of a max run, just support it.
