Back stab receptacles

Yeah I think Hubble makes them. Haven't tried them yet but will soon.
I'd like to hear your experiences with them when you do. Apparently Old Hat went so far as to put one in a vise, landed our typical #10 THHN, then proceeded to fail at ripping the wire out with a pair of channel locks. That seems to have been what sealed the deal for him.

Unless you pigtail any connection you do that feedthrough device is going to be a problem and even a pigtail if you don’t do it right. stabbing is not a problem if pigtail

I'd say that stabbing could still be a problem even with a pigtail. If that happens to be an outlet that gets some amperage, it is a problem.

But, no one who is pig tailing receptacles is also backstabbing them.

I do- I have premade 15 amp- receptacles stabed and I wire nut my connections in rough- 20 are premade looped—
I have seen just as many burnt connections from looped as stapped.

If it is a problem it’s isolated to that recep and does not effect the rest so easy fix.

Just my opinion and it’s usually wrong

@AC\DC ....
Loved your last sentence.
Because, as my lovely wife might say, well... u know....
Hee hee...

I could never figure this out either.

There are several competing style of trailer connector. 6 pin round going out of fashion. 7 pin round used on semi trucks and stuff. And 7 pin flat called RV style. The flat pin style is known to be problematic with pin contact, while the round ones are known to be reliable.

They also make all kinds of round connectors for power like the MC4 and certain Molex ones.

Yet, they can't get a round wire copper of a known diameter to work reliably in a receptacle after 40 years experience.

I never had much issue when I had that one in left and middle with connections. The one on right seems to be pretty common anymore, I used to have connection problems with it all the time, until I coated contact surfaces with dielectric grease. Can't recall ever having a connection issue with the plug/connector since doing that usually something wrong with trailer wiring if it isn't working now.

Avoid the "back stabbies". It's trouble waiting to happen. I saw at Home Depot the other day there is a new "lever lock" type connector/outlet and heard it works pretty well. Works like WAGO connectors. 15 and 20A rated both.
I've seen supply house had some sample Leviton devices that were lever lock style. Never tried them, doesn't sound like many been purchasing them talking to counter guys either, so not sure how good they are or what kind of contacts they have for connecting to cords that get plugged in. Something tells me similar to the cheap residential receptacles which if so that would be a bigger deterrent for me than how they connect to premises wiring.

Yeah I haven't tried the lever lock duplex outlets and switches. I have had good luck with WAGO and this is similar. I bought the "WAGO" knock offs on Amazon and they were garbage. You could pull the wires out after lever locking them.

Had Hubbell send me a free made in cheating china lever lock duplex receptacle. I pushed in one of the lever locks without inserting a wire and could not get flimsy lever to unlock. Tried three different size screwdrivers, needle nose pliers and a pair of side cutters. Best place for it was in my trash can.
