Back-up generator/propane tanks clearances???

Is there a minimum distance requirement between a 10kva generator on a concrete slab and the two 40 gallon propane tanks that feed it??? ...And how about a minimum distance in between the two propane tanks? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

not sure on the tanks, but the generator must be 3 ft. from combustible material (i.e. siding), and 3 ft from a window for exhaust and such, and I think under a window is also a no-no. The manual tells all, but not for the tanks.

Check your local Fuel Gas Codes, Zoning Code, Land Development Code, and Fire Prevention Code. They likely will all have a say on the matter.

Jango-you may have a delivery problem with the amount of lp vapor needed to run a 10k generator and cold temps make it worse-Ed

the insurance company will say 75 ft from a ignition source and codes hear say 6ft from any fresh air intake and windows..and I do not believe 40 gallon tanks are going to produce enough vapor to sustain a long period of run time and in the cold it will be worse..with such small surface areas the vapor amount is small and can dissipate quicker than the vapor is produced..You really need to ask the local inspector and the insurance company of HO..
