when I've got ceiling fans to install, i tell the customer to purchase what they like,
making SURE it has a remote included.

i flat rate putting them in, and it includes hanging the fan that is furnished...
with one stipulation:

I WILL NOT HANG FANS PURCHASED FROM THE DISNEY STORE

I've only done one. it was pink, had an illuminated glass housing over the
motor, and a illuminated tinkerbell that spun opposite the blade rotation.

almost FOUR hours and five tries to get tinkerbell to spin.[/QUOTE]

What you didn't know you needed the Pixie dust:p

Yes, too many gadgets on anything is bad luck. The spinning trinket sounds like junk. I have seen mixed results with remotes. Some do OK, some don't seem to last long. I tell people to order both transmitter & receiver, as I have no way of testing each component. Logic tells me if 1 is going bad, the other will soon follow. I have seen 1 remote receiver that would not fit into the fan hanger bracket. Fortunately, this fan also had manual chains & customer did away with remote. Some have a built in doughnut. Have to partially disassemble fan to get to it.

Manufacturers could also help us a lot by putting larger print nameplates on the fans. Very hard to read at an angle from top of a ladder on a vaulted ceiling from the wrong side because ladder won't fit on right side.
