Is it ok to use bare ground wire inside metal Receptacle boxes on commercial jobs? My helper asked me this because he is installing the green insulated grounding pigtails we buy. Is it ok to wire nut a bare ground to that insulated one? Thanks

AFAIK, it is acceptable to use a bare copper conductor but the job spec might call for an insulated bonding jumper to the box.

Sometimes you may have no choice but please don’t make it a habit. A bare ground can find its way to a hot no matter what. I have found arced grounds at least 20 or 30 times over the years. In fact, I’d like to end bare grounds in NM cable.
