One of the more experienced techs cut off the end of an extension cord to provide power to a panel he was building for a customer. It just hung there in the shop for a week before I decided to put a plug on it. Same guy couldn't figure out how the rope on an extension ladder works, so he cut the one end off. Same guy ... oh never mind. Why is he still here? Because the boss isn't any smarter, but thinks he is ...

Some of the other "Techs" have potential, but little opportunity to learn. Baby steps.

You can also demo some basic concepts with simulators. Lots online. This one is phone based and is good for the basics in electrical wiring.
