like i said, if its 'listed for the purpose'. ;)

What do you expect the listing to be?

It will not be listed for use in a tub space.

It can be either listed for damp locations or if subject to spray wet locations.

How about a chandelier in the shower?

I can place a light fixture in the same place that the fan is, or I could replace it with a fan light :)

I could also put wall sconces in that space if they where wet location rated.
You wouldnt really put a line voltage sconce in a tub/shower enclosure would you??? edit to change light to sconce oops

I don't know, If it was listed for wet locations and thats what the customer wanted then probably yes.

My point really was the NEC allows it.

The chandler no, that is not allowed, unless it's a high ceiling and it's above the zone.

Hey guys I just came from a friend of the familys house. They told me that there bathfan that they had installed about three years ago keeps popping the breaker. Went by and saw they had a fan installed in the shower itself haha. Well the shower is all glass doors with only a little opening above the door. I know that it was tripping the GFCI breaker because of the steam getting into the fan and building up water. I have never seen a fan installed in a shower like this before dont know if its legal to be honest with you. But I didn't know if any of you guys have any ideas for a replacement fan if such a thing is made? Here is what it looks like and thank you for your help as always

Even in 14 wire??That is just sooo wrong! However Bob had a good point that they make nice soap holders.
i think if a light is listed to be in a wet location then it can be located inside of a shower GFCI protection or not. personally i would put it on a gfci. if the instructions to say to put it on a gfci and you dont then you are going against its UL listing and against 110.3B. thats why we can put bath fans in showers just as long they are on a GFCI since its part of its listing

i like wall mounted lights in showers especially if they look heavy duty. theres always one customer that wants to hang some kind of huge hanging fixture above a bath tub and they always get upset when we say that its illegal because its too close to the tub

Please go on..

It looks like a hanging fixture in a shower stall, what are we missing?

Cool, isn't it?

I also like the idea of a lighted soap dish. My kid has a radio sticks on the wall of the shower with suction cups in the shape of a fish. I wonder just how many gadgets that are either electrical or are illusions of electrical are available for showers. And what about a phone jack in the shower??

Would you put one in your mothers tub??

Yes, if it was listed for the location, and I would ground it, and I would have a circuit breaker installed that would shut the power of if there was a fault.

I would also put a light in a pool if I wired pools.

Do you put light fixtures outside?
