While gfci are great lets try not to protect lights in a bathroom where not required. You are protecting past code and are creating a hazard. The receptacle needs protected but not the light. This is simple even on a dedicated line.Try not to put the lights on gfci unless specs call for it.Think in terms of it being you at 1 am and the lights go out.
if only the shower light goes out what harm does that do at 1 in the morning????

Is there any good reason to have lights on a gfci ?

Jim
There are some cities or states that have amendments that may require GFCI protection of lighting fixtures that are located above the water line of a tub or shower stall. I do agree that it is not a good design to put all lights on a GFCI protected circuit if not required. Also some fan/light combos are required to be GFCI protected by manufacture when install above the shower stall.

Its a hazard to ever end up in the dark.Coming out of a tub or shower in the dark is far from being safe.Is there any good reason to have lights on a gfci ?
If only the tub/ shower light is on gfci and the vanity/ recessed lights are not you would in fact not be in the dark if the shower HH tripped.

Yes I have said it. You didnt like it I presume?

Your free to say what you want.

If you have something on your mind spit it out in plain English. What you think is clever is just non-sense from this side of the net.

I agree if thats how it was wired but if all the lights are on it we will be in the dark.Nothing says the vanity light was turned on.Many bathrooms have no windows.Usually i want gfci even on circuits that dont require them. This is one area i think will be safer without it (lights only)
