You copied the most recent, 7/04, adoption of the Code.

wouldn't this be the applicable adoption?

"The bureau adopts the interpretations as given in the 2002 national fire protection association handbook of the national electrical code."

With out formal backup this is merely an opinion too as is the commentary in the "Handbook".

I have been told verbally that the reference to interpretations have been inadvertently omitted in the readoption of the 2002.

Once again, no substance.

We will be adopting the 2005 early next year, and we'll see if the reference to the Handbook is left out again.

And if it is you will let us know right.

Jtester- What you have posted (In relation to the AHJ, and his/ her rulings based on the explanation--aka commentary etc. ) is someone what I was trying to signify.

OK you guys are tough. I sent an e-mail to the State Electrical Bureau Chief asking about the omission of the reference to Handbook interpretations. I will let you know as soon as I hear from him.

As far as the question about 7/04 being the current version of the State Code: The State is trying to adopt a blended Code set utilizing the ICC Building, Residential, Energy Conservation Codes together with the Uniform Series of Mechanical, Plumbing, etc. That is the reason for the 7/04 revisions. However until January 2005 the old set of Codes is applicable if desired. That allows the interpretations of the Handbook at least until January 2005. That information is available on the New Mexico Construction Industries Division web site.
