Most electricians in the field are not working under the direct supervision of the person that signs their checks, they normally work under the supervision of a lead man or foreman and it is the leadman or foreman's job to know the codes.

If he doesn't know the code then give him back his shovel and this will motivate him.

I agree, I wouldn't know anyone else in my company, other than a small crowd of peps, unless they had a company hat on... then I'd just have to still wonder!

Yes but did you have such a decent grasp of the NEC before they gave you a shovel or does this method really work? :D

Would putting one's tools back on Work for a Forman!

I seen it happen, not pretty but it does happen!

True growler, if an electrician jumps into his codebook when his foreman just told him how to do something he won't be around long...even if he's right.

Most of the time it's not the suggestion that gets noticed it's who made it.

I like to think of ditch digging as "scared smart". Insteady of taking young kids to see prisoners lolly gaging around all day in prison they should send them out to a construction site and scare the B'Jesus out of them when they find out what really happens when you don't do your homework.

If an electrician does not know the green wire goes on the box ground screw they are not an "Electrician". I would put them on the shovel. When I was stupid I was put on the shovel. I learned to use the pick, bar, spade and spoon real good. I was a slow learner. It does work! If hard work builds character. I must be a character.
