Are you using a website that has your pics, like shutterfly or are you trying to upload from your computer?

From the computer click on the paper clip symbol in the top row toward the right side. In the new box that appears click Add File- click done. Now use the same icon but use the down arrow and click on your image.

If that doesn't work it may be the image is too large. BTW, that me below was I had hair

Notice how the photo Dennis uploaded is small, if it were something we needed to see detail on would not be sufficient. Use of other hosting sites is the way to go for good pictures to show up in the post, it won't matter what size your image is when using a hosting site.

But it may not be predictable whether the full image or just a thumbnail shows up in the body of the post.

Full image has always showed up in post, at the point I inserted the code when I used a hosting site with

OK. Thanks.

I uploaded a photo the other day without a problem, now it wont. I will check the size of the file as you suggest.

BTW....what is the maximum files size for an upload?

I just tried a large file and it just states there is an error. It used to say what size... let me see if I can dig that up

If you are not trying to save it as an attachment, you can also use IMG button It is below the paper clip button, a greenish yellow square.
Just trying something here, never used that button this was the result of this trial.

Add: that worked pretty good for posting a picture I was looking at on another page. One thing about it is if owner of the page it linked to removes the image, it won't work in your post anymore.

Actually I think unlike a direct insert from a remote site, like photo bucket, it fetches the image and keeps a copy.

But it does not put it into your attachments folder.

And if you click on it it will get enlarged. Those are thumbnails I believe
Yes, I noticed that.

I don't recall any image I posted via photobucket or postimage, etc. ever being reduced to a thumbnail within the post, was always full sized image. But to post the picture I just did, in the past I would have downloaded it, then posted it to my photobucket, postimage, etc. account then linked to that storage site. this was much faster to post something I'm looking at elsewhere and want to share it here.

Those photos are not stored on MH site, no need to reduce them. They disappear if pic is removed from remote host.

I understand that, but the thumbnail I just posted likely is only there because of a reference to the site I found the picture on as well. If that site owner removes that picture the thumbnail probably don't work anymore because nothing was stored on this forum's site.

Was an item from Square D online catalog FWIW.

add: if it does store the image on the forum site, then it likely counts against how much storage the user has. Once you use up all your storage you probably can't do this anymore without removing some of what you have previously stored.

No, you can use that button to upload a pic from computer, pic stays even computer does not.

It fetches and keeps a copy of the pic. It simply does not also go into your attachment folder. It does not count against your storage limit because it is no longer yours.
