Just paid for a consultant to teach an electrical safety class and arc fault seminar for my employees. Now I figured the time would be optimum as we have been slow. The days were set and I was informed Joe Tedesco would be teaching the class. Of course the night before the class things fall apart two major emergencies. SOOOOO I work 2-20 hour days so my men could attend the training and I miss the course and do not get to meet Mr. Tedesco.

I had invited a few forum members to attend, but alas they had conflicts also

Oh Well.

Most of the small shops in my area, including us have been sending our men to advanced classes for years, it is one of the things. that helped our employees stay on top. The one time we had a conflict, we had another area shop pick up the work, so we could all attend.

SATCOM, I did a one day seminar over two days, so I hopefully we could avoid this happening. Both emergencies were specialties, rebuilding a GFP (total replacement) and Pringle 4000 Amp CBC bolted pressure switch, second day was a major customer with an engine failure.

It's too bad, you were not able to get some relief, for those days, but both emergencies being specialties, locked out any chance of handing it over, luckey you din't have to pull any of the guys from the class.

how did you gather all your specialty knowledge? (not to change the topic of the post) im just curious. i look up to a lot of people on this forum and i would like to learn as much as i could and possibly be as smart and knowledgable about the field as you and some of the other members.

The best way I can suggest to learn specialties and gain knowledge is to work for a medium-large commercial/industrial contractor with a varied customer base.

When I worked for a big company, I was on all kinds of jobs, from new retail stores, large generator installations, supermarket troubleshooting and service, tenant fit-ups, fire alarms, etc....
