If a unibit is used to drill the side of a bell box to create a new hole for a rigid conduit to feed into it, it voids the rating correct? this is in a "wet location"

Gaskets are used on the outside of the box where the rigid enters.

Not all holes are alike.

If you're drilling a straight hole into a thin wall section, I'd have to say "it will leak."

Yet, many such boxes have much thicker sections in the middle part of a blank wall. If someone drilled in this thicker part, then tapped it for pipe threads - in effect, created a hub- I'd be hard pressed to claim that their field work was any less valid than the store-bought version.

Indeed, "Bell" boxes actually have straight pipe threads (no taper), so they'll probably leak anyway.
