If you have a large job with a lot of large RGS conduit(3” +) and bends I assume factory(pre fab) elbows would be the way to go instead of field bending.

It depends, you will still need a large bender for offsets and kicks. Manufactured elbows could mean that you'll save on bending but then you may need to make extra threads in the field.

For a large job you will need a bender. Short manufactured elbows are easier to spin on than an elbow at the end of a full length of conduit and have a shorter radius which makes the room required to spin them considerably less.

Takes longer to bend than install pre-fab elbow so you have to look at the material cost against added time/labor hours to install pre-fab elbow.

A pre-fab elbow is almost never the correct length which means that you will need to add some length of conduit to it. If it's less than a full length then you will need to cut and thread so you're not saving much labor. Sometimes bending the elbows is faster and cheaper.
