Best heat to maintain 120 degrees..

Saw a news report about some people who brought home bed bugs from a motel. Thanks to all the wonderful 3ed world country people coming over. They showed the company they hired working on the home. They sealed the windows except for 2. 1 for supply 1 for the return air. They had a very large gas pack on a trailer with a separate propane truck hooked to it. They had placed thermostats through out the house that they could monitor from out side and opened all the doors inside the home. They fired it up and got the inside temp to between 120-130 and held it there for about 3 hours. They said they held it there for 3 hours to make sure if there were any eggs that it would kill them also.

Okay, so the Mrs., my son, daughter in law, and grandson went to Disney..

She brought critters back home.. (jeez….. of course it wasn't from her road trip, could have come from anywhere…………………anyway)

Bad Mickey !!!

(or maybe not……….. could have gotten them anywhere………right??)
What makes you imply that a Disney hotel should have been more effective than you were in preventing an infestation from being brought in from somewhere else? If they are infested they probably got it the same way you did. I hope you let them know that they might have a problem.

Well, since they are in the business you might think they do periodic spraying as other hotels…?? And maybe they do………And I'm not implying that Disney should have been effective in preventing infestation. I was stating that the wife took a trip to Disney. Could have been from there, could have been from the airports, the taxi….
Could have been from anywhere.. ??Could have been from me getting a cheese burger down the block…??

Bad Mouse.

Bad Mouse.
And yet with your "bad mouse" remark you still appear to be blaming Disney for your infestation. Did you at least notify the hotel that they might have a problem?

For what it's worth. Getting sprayed as I type this. I asked the tech. Older nice guy. Been doing it twenty years. Mentioned how he red stats a couple years ago about Disney being infested. Doesn't know current stats.
Reason being is they never close to address it.

For what it's worth.

Maybe I didn't get it from the mouse. But odds are good that is where they came from.

No I did not notify the motel. If that's where they came from I'm pretty sure they know. I'll mention it to the mrs to let them know. It was her trip. :- )

Speaking of Mickey.

I have an older Siamese cat named Mickey. He's going blind. Walking into walls and things. What's weird is I find him sleeping with his eyes open. Weird.

Bed bugs don't like dogs or cats. They're not set up like flees or ticks to handle the fur and they don't like the blood.

Good talk with the tech. Bout how extermination has changed. What to use. Paper work. Protocol.

Does and donts. Cants.

Mentioned India. The live with bed bugs like we live with mosquitos.

Mentioned an apartment building he did.

32 apartments 30 infested with bed bugs had Indians living in them. Two did not.

Nothing against our indian brothers/sisters.

most hotels don't care, in my experience.

i spent two nights at the chicago hilton, and by checkout had been bitten by spiders more times
than i could count. cipro, believe it or not, is effective on spider bites, and i had a ten day series
with me, and took them. they healed, but i still have some pretty large scars on my left leg, and
this happened in 2002. scars are still there.

upon informing the hilton of this, right after i checked out, i was told that they were sorry,
and next time i was in town, to stop by and lunch was on them. needless to say, i've never stayed
in a hilton property since. a cheeseburger.... really? how thoughtful...

not even a pretense of taking precautions to prevent the next 200 occupants of that room from getting
bitten. the open sores were bad enough until the cipro kicked in, that i couldn't sit with them touching
a seat... try driving back from chicago in that situation, pulling a work trailer, in a van, sitting on the
right cheek..... big fun.

I check the sheets now .

Had to remove heat limit, and tstat……and top cover……….was experiencing melt down……..fans help………….

Probably had the box sealed too tight or at least needed to duct a "return" or place heater entirely inside the box.

Pushing the heated air into a sealed box like you did puts pressure (very low but still pressure) inside the box. The heater fan can not push enough air over the heat element against that pressure to keep it at or below it's maximum design temperature - that is why high limit thermostats are tripping.

If you are putting air in - it has to come out somewhere or flow is stopped. Put the heater inside the box and air circulates in the box and eventually returns to heater inlet. I'd also bet one 1200 watt ceramic heater would be more then enough heat to reach desired temp - especially this time of year.

sauna heater…….great idea.

Yes, that return air was on my mind.. at times i would turn off a heater so it would come out there.
Even with all running, putting my hand in the back by the heater I could feel some air out……..
So the fan was pushing in yet out?
I'm sure it could have been designed better……….
I kinda went with the zapp bugg design, they did not have any return that I could see, not sure how they didn't get melt down…..
I'm pretty sure they use the same heater I found… except for painting it red, I'm not sure how else they modified it.

SO………..
I used the box for four very large loads. Temp was from 123 to 150 with probes embedded deep in thick stuff. Baked about 3 hrs per load once lowest temp reading reached temperature.

Hot box is dismembered in sections and in storage.

Last (third) poison treatment is tomorrow.

Hoping that's the end of this chapter.

Box was sealed up enough there was no place to push any air so what little movement there was found a way past the fan and out the back side.

Like I said putting the heater unit completely inside the box would at least have allowed air to circulate more freely through the heater, instead you were trying to push against a pressurized enclosure, and a second heater just helped to keep the pressure up.
