Best tape measure

Milwaukee are pretty good, Lufkin. I don't like tapes with the button lock. I like the design of the Stanley Leverlock but the blades are wimpy.

In fact I really don't like tape measures at all and prefer a 6' Lufkin folding stick ruler. But have to have a tape can't do everything with a stick rular.

Been through the expensive tapes over the years. They are great but working outside in the dirt, mud, rain the tapes don't last and at $25-$30 a pop, not worth it.
I'll buy 3 or 4 tapes from HF Bauer at $10 bucks. When they fail, I toss them and grab a new one. So far, they have been lasting.

I've had my Milwaukee electricians tape for a bunch of years, I like it for the two sided reading when hooked onto the pipe and the mag was strong enough to grab a small tool when I drop it.

For quick measurement for sizing a room I have a Bosch Laser GLM 40. Will give elevation too without having to get up a ladder, for questions like "how high is that eves point or the service attachment point from grade?". That model doesn't work well in direct sunlight though but they do have one that will, just too cheap to buy one for the amount I would need it.
