I begrudgingly suffer through 32 hours of CEU's every three years. I say that because I typically learn very little, which seems to be what most of the guys at these seminars really want. The last one I took the guy next to me didn't even bring the required code book or a sheet of paper to take notes. For the second session he brought only a pen, not even the book we were given on the code changes. I would say that I've learned more here on the forum and on my own than I have sitting in a classroom.

My required 8 hour class is so terrible it feels like 32 hours, I wish my weekends went by that slow... Every year I go, its the exact same class... We spend maybe 2.5 hours actually in the nec...

Yes I have to do that one as well.

For my MA and RI license I can take one 15 hour course each code cycle. CT does not recognize that class so I have to take the 8 hour class each year.

I think the fact that every New England state has a separate license is absurd. There is so much day-to-day cross border commerce here that there should be a regional license.

For those who aren't familiar with New England, look at the size of the states on the map and then you'll see why this is a big deal. :)

I have sat thru many boring hours, especially many years ago. But for several years went to classes held by Ariel Sessions, who was on the code making panel. That guy could go on all day long, and refer us to the article in the book without even looking it up. He could really keep us interested, and answer any question.
After he left I called the state to find out which classes by other states would be allowed. After that I would pick and choose, would drive several hundred miles to attend a class which interested me and was acceptable. A great little vacation for the wife and I, and I would find out how things were done a little differently by other areas.
