Installing a Big Ass Fan (14' Essence Model), mounting support will be above finished ceiling. Power cable exits the top of the down rod and will enter a 4 square box in ceiling. Power cable seems to be a type of so chord, is this rated to be concealed above the ceiling?
 
Power cable won’t be in conduit to j-box unless I sleeve it from down rod to j-box

Is there any listing information on the cord?
 
Not that I have seen, cable is in the shop, will take a picture tonight or tomorrow
 
Finished ceiling? What type of ceiling?
 
Metal for the ceiling, hard wired, specs out a 10 amp breaker. Didn’t get a picture of the chord tonight, hopefully tomorrow.

Yes factory, molex plug from the fan, molex plug on the factory whip that feeds down the down rod. Individual conductors on the other end of the whip.
 
So, SO cord (capped or hard wired), "buried" above a finished ceiling ?? I would say NEC is a no on that?
