I looked at Lowes and home depot and could not find the right bit for my Metabo hammer drill.
Am i missing something? Has any body else had this problem.
The bit on the left is readily available but does not fit my drill. The one on the right, I can not find it any where.

SDS-Max vs splined. What size(s) are you looking for, diameter and length?

Have you tried a Hilti store? If they don't have any, ask them for suggestions.

Have you tried eBay? The fewer search terms you use, the better the results.

I've used this company to buy bits, they are good bits and have lots of choices.

Spline drive bits are getting to be obsolete as everyone moved on to SDS and SDS Max.
Always had a lot more trouble inserting & removing older SDS style hammer drill bits. Still have my old Black & Decker Macho two hammer drill that uses the spline drive bits. Had a B & D repair center rebuild it once and still running. My first hammer drill a Skill used 7/16" hex hammer drill bits.

Pretty sure you can get an adapter that goes from spline to SDS Max or SDS Plus. That way you can keep your drill and use the readily available SDS bits.

Yes sir! Gotta love those old machines.

This is my B&D Macho V Hammer Drill. It's long on the "Hammer" and short on the "Drill" - broken gear inside, won't turn the spline drive. But it hammers like crazy, and I simply can't throw it out (yet). Use it every so often as a little jack hammer.

Like the old horse sayin goes... "Been rode hard and put away wet". But it refuses to die.

As I get older, I don't like lifting the case around too early in the morning. Between the drill and bits, the thing is a workout.

I have a Bosch 11227e SDS-Max that I have had for years, that still works well.

I have used it for everything from driving ground rods to running 6" core bits.

It looks like this one:
