I am getting ready to wire a boathouse that sits on 40' pylons driven into the bottom of the lake. The boat house will have a finished ceiling for lighting and a few electric boat lifts. He wants switches mounted on his 4X4 post close the the ceiling for the lights over his boats. I was planning on doing most of my wiring with romex and slleve the switches out of the ceiling. I have been looking through the code book to find how this structure needs to be wired and the only thing I have found is " Marianas and boatyards. Is there another section to look at. It is basically a finished building with little work exposed. I am setting a 100-amp panel in a wall that is hidden and built for a bar. Thanks for any input on this subject

It helps but this is stationary Boat house. Looks like Marianas and docks is what I will be using. Thanks for your suggestion. I am a little surprised by the small response from other memebers. Perhaps they think I am a DIY.

Thank you

By common usage, in the Forum at least, a DIY is a person who is not an electrician and that is planning on performing electrical installation work in his or her own home. This Forum is intended to assist professionals in the electrical industry in the performance of their job-related tasks. You appear to fit neither category. Rather, you appear to be a person who is not an electrician and that intends to do electrical installation work for another party, and expects to get paid for it.

We don't know what laws and codes apply in your area. We don't know if a non-electrician is allowed, by law, to do what you describe. We certainly cannot be expected to help someone who might be violating their local laws.

I am going to close this tread, at least on a temporary basis. You are welcome to send me a Private Message to explain the circumstances. If I have misjudged the situation, I will reopen the thread, with an apology for the delay and inconvenience.

Charlie,

If he is a DIYer....he is persistant as they have posts dating back to 2003 and have asked questions on MANY projects for what I believe JOBS they have been doing.

So based on checking older posts....and looking at them I would say he is in the field....again...Just my Opinion
