Bogged Down, Cluttered and Smothered

I just try to not break to much of their crap when i'm standing on it : ) I feel your pain and hate jobs like that. But for the most part seems like jobs are a mess. The ones that I actually don't see as much of a mess are commercial TI's. Lot of times they aren't quite as bad.

Walking around in someone's home in my socks isn't something I feel like doing. I'm a professional, so I'll stay fully dressed, thank you. The Comcast guy was at my place a while back, and he took off his boots and left them on the front porch. I was a little surprised by that.
Booties are a must for residential service/warranty calls. I have stinky feet. :)

The last time I did work for a friend, their little ones made a big deal that I was wearing my shoes on the carpet. "I've been working all day," I told one, "I'm not taking my shoes off. It would kill you." :D

Since I don't do sidework, the work I do on the side is for free and for good friends/family only. They can deal with me wearing my clean shoes in their home for the free electrical work. :)

11 dollars for a box of 50 pair at a janitorial supply house. I don't use them on every call... just the nice houses or if it's bad weather. 50 pair will last a good long while. Can you get the safety tip style for $11 per 50

I can see it now, my reply to the comp claim, the employee removed his safety shoes, to put a show on for the customer, we look more professional in booties, then safety shoes.

Huh? They go over your boots, much like the covers doctors and nurse's put over their shoes to go into the operating room. They're packaged in a cardboard box slightly larger than a box of Kleenex's, so they're easy to stash on the truck someplace. Murphy's law says that your next service call after you've been doing work in a welding shop with black greasy soot everywhere will be a home with white carpet.

We use the booties, too. Like George, I'd rather not take my shoes off.

That sounds like an order of hash browns from Waffle House. :)

Looks almost exactly like a basement where I did a service upgrade last summer. They had cats also. The oder of cat urine, while not over whelming, was present and persistent and unpleasent. HO wanted me to give a price on updating garage service. Basement was uncluttered compared to garage. I priced myself out of the job!!

I looked at an apartment building a couple months ago.... they had a lot of little electrical issues that needed addressed... broken receps, open light fixtures, NM outside the walls. But the place was a total pit, both visually and health-wise. It was a total dump. Probably hadn't seen a good cleaning or paint job since the 70's. I priced myself out of that one as well.
