I say that the correct way is to protect the building.

We really dont know how far away the generators are from the building. Could be 1/2 mile.
Are you suggesting that the ground be installed at the generator and not the building or do you suggest there is a problem that might develop by leaving the neutral connected to the frame?

I'd say no, a recent thread fed me some crow about whether two disconnects were normally required - Mike Whitt and Bob were going back and forth, I don't remember the details now (not too much time this afternoon :) )

My point in my post was that the generator disconnect would be the SDS disconnect.

Distance is not an issue. The installer will figure on using triplex or quad and establish the GES to the grounded or grounding conductor depending on what year code they are following.
