This is taking things a little to far, whats next bond the metal windows, stairail, metal doorknobs, and last bond my heavy metal cd collectionDoes anyone bond metal siding on a dwelling? If so, what fittings do you use?
Try saying that three times real fastwe have to bond all the metal studs and the metal track the studs are screwed to because you cannot use sheet metal screws as a bonding means because our metal boxes are screwed to the metal studs and they may become energized if there is a short in the metal box.
If you live in a dwelling with aluminum siding, you might be a red neck..Zifkwong wrote:I was just curious if anybody ever tried to bond metal siding and what methods they used to do it?
NFPA - Fire from on High (Roof Level)..Other rooftop equipment constructed of metal that fails to meet the minimum thick?ness requirement must not only be connected to the light?ning protection system, but also be equipped with conduc?tors and air terminals for adequate protection.
Well that answers the metal siding question.Originally posted by butch:
Ive did a paint booth once and had to bond the main beam with a cadweld type bond, this apparently bonded all metal attached. This was taking from the drawings and a govn. job.

Don't laugh too much on that. We had to do that on a job about 10 years ago. It was for an internet POP site. The bldg had raised floor and underneath we had to tear out the sheetrock at all corners and bond around them with #8 awg jumpers with T&B 2-hold lugs through bolted into the studs. I just LMAO when I hear the EE wanted that done. Okay, here's your change order.Originally posted by marinesgt0411:

There is NO such thing as COMMON sense.
I KNEW Larry would do that, AGAIN!quote:

How's that?
You exothermic weld a #500 Kcmil lug to each screw and run a # 1/0 bonding jumper to each screw, making sure that the D in deck does not interfere with the conductivity of the 1/0 bonding jumper, then you wake up from this goofy dream and find yourself coming back late from your 30 minute lunch breakBy Jim:How do you bond the metal screws in a wooden deck?
