Bonding of pole barns

I am being told by the subcode official that pole barns have to be bonded and grounded to earth on all four corners according to article 250. These buildings are wooden frame buildings with a steel skin and roof. I read it as grounding the frame of the building but in this case, that is wood. What do you think?

No, he is telling me that the steel roof and the steel side wall skins have to be bonded and grounded to earth on all four corners of the building. I can find no such thing in the code and therefore am reluctant to require that on an inspection.

I think that the inspector is off his soundings, i.e. out of his depth. The building does not have a metal frame. If you were really going to ground the skin and roof panels you would have to run a halo ground and bond it to each and every panel. It might be worth checking into the appeals process. I wish you luck!
