Customer getting zapped from range when stirring a pot on the stove.

Existing circuit with no EGC. I found no bonding jumper from frame of range to grounded conductor and installed one complying with 250.140 exception.

I've met the code for this but have I really fixed anything? Something was causing that jolt. Seems like a patch for a known problem. Like something should be done with the range.

Seems like I should do something more....

????????????

I dont know how far you would want to tear into an appliance, but you could test it with a megger. the customer needs to be aware of the danger, and should either have the range repaired or replaced.

at least the ground strap will take care of the problem while the mouse is drying out and becoming less conductive.

Sounds like a damaged element that energizes the pot she is stirring, attaching the bonding jumper is correct but may magnify the situation. I would have the customer call an appliance repairman unlees you like that kind of work!:D

Friz, did you by chance measure the voltage between the frame and neutral before adding the jumper?

It should have had a jumper when it left factory. My guess is it was pigtailed by an appliance delivery man that did not know enough. She is safe now and legal(assuming this is not a trailer).I would not run new wire.If it has a problem your next call will be because it triped the breaker.

Access to the connections limited with appliance plugged in. I wish had measured it.

...as a matter of fact it was.

Just so you know, they're called manufactured homes. ;)

But to be fair this was old school and was classic trailer through and through.
